2008 Grants
The Wichita County Community Foundation announced
their 2008 Spring Grant awards at their annual Benefit Golf
Tournament held on June 7. Three grants were awarded in a total
amount of $4,777.75
Grants awarded were:
The Tribe (Booster Club) to
purchase flags for downtown - $561.00
Wichita County Historical Society - funds
to renovate space for Leoti's first fire truck - $2,499.75
Wichita County Municipal Golf Course to
purchase satellite timers and skylights for the golf cart storage
shed - $1,717.00
Recipients of Wichita County Community Foundation
Scholarships are:
Judy Biel Memorial Scholarship - Cody Geyer;
John and Mary Herndon Scholarship - Dustin Barker, Ashley
Geyer, Carrie Leatherman, Mauricio
Terrazas, and

Wichita County Health Center Volunteers for
long term card window treatments - $1,722.00
USD #467 Vocational Education Department to
purchase a plasma cam cutter - $4,800.00
Wichita County Historical Society to
commission mural paintings for the museum's new fossil exhibit - $2,120.00
Wichita County Commission for
courthouse yard and step improvements - $3,000.00
Wichita County Health Center for
flooring replacement in the clinic, chapel, and conference room and
concrete repairs at the front entrance to the hospital - $5,000.00
Wichita County Municiapal Golf Course for
bethroom partitions, garage doors, and signage/landscaping - $2,875.00

2006 Grants
Wichita County Parks and Recreations Board for
playground equipment to be used by four year-olds and younger - $5,000.
Wichita County Fair Board for community
building equipment upgrades - $5,000.
Wichita County Amusement Association for
contruction of a snow cone building - $4,200.
Wichita County Health Care Medical Endowment Foundation
for a sprinkler system - $2,668.
Wichita County Municipal Golf Course for
planting of a windbreak and landscaping - $2,100.
Wichita County Historical Society for a chair
lift at the museum - $2,100.
Recipients of Wichita County Community Foundation
Scholarships are:
Judy Biel Memorial Scholarship - Sheri
Eckert; and the John and Mary Herndon Scholarship
- LeAndra Lechtenberg, Lissete Terrazas, Carson Ames, Michael
Ibarra, Ed Vargas, Kayla Weilert and Glenda Alcantar.

2005 Grants
Grants awarded in the Spring 2005 grant round are:
Wichita County Health Center Endowment
Foundation, $5,000 to improve the parking lot north of the hospital
with added parking spaces and better access to make entering and
departing the facility safer.
Wichita County Amusement Association, $5,000
for the renovation of the Tilt-A-Whirl carnival ride.
Wichita County Municipal Golf Course, $5,000
to construct a driving range tee box from artificial turf and to
purchase additional equipment to be used for golf instruction and
practice, especially for youth.
Student Scholarships totaling $4,500 were
awarded by the Foundation. Recipients of the 2005 Herndon Trust
Scholarships are Glenda Alcantar, Alyssa Baker, Christine Baker,
Jason Baker, Nicole Baker, Braeden Johnson, Devon Krenzel and Nick
Novak. The Judy Biel Memorial Scholarship recipient for 2005 is
Amanda Marcotte.

2004 Grants
Community Foundation Awards More Than $22,000 In Grants
LEOTI --- The Wichita County Community
Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the recipients of its first
Community Grant Awards. More than $22,000 in grants has been awarded
to non-profit organizations in Wichita County that will improve the
quality of life for its residents.
Grants awarded in the Spring 2004 grant
round are:
Wichita County Municipal Golf Course, $5,000 to
help complete the newly constructed club house by purchasing kitchen
cabinets, countertops, backsplash, sink, stove, lights, interior trim
and kitchen and bathroom flooring.
Wichita County Amusement Association, Inc.,
$5,000 to help renovate the newly purchased Ferris Wheel in time for
the 2004 fair.
Wichita County Education Foundation, Inc.,
$3,005.00 to help purchase a gator utility vehicle for use by Wichita
County Schools for maintenance and athletic activities.
Wichita County Senior Citizens Association,
Inc., $2,115.00 to enlarge the current garage door on their bus barn
to accommodate their recently purchased senior citizen transportation bus.
Wichita County Swim Team, $4,950.00 to
construct a dual purpose building at the Wichita County Park to store
equipment and use for fundraising activities during swim meets.
Wichita County Health Center Volunteers,
$2,112.25 to purchase a portable heated baby scales for the hospital.
More than $30,000.00 in funds was raised by
these organizations to match the grants being provided through the
Wichita County Community Foundation.
