2007 Grants Awarded
The Wichita County Community Foundation announced
their 2007 Spring Grant awards at their annual Benefit Golf
Tournament held on June 2. Six grants were awarded in a total amount
of $21,517.
Grants awarded were:
Wichita County Health Center Volunteers for
long term card window treatments - $1,722.00
USD #467 Vocational Education Department to
purchase a plasma cam cutter - $4,800.00
Wichita County Historical Society to
commission mural paintings for the museum's new fossil exhibit - $2,120.00
Wichita County Commission for
courthouse yard and step improvements - $3,000.00
Wichita County Health Center for
flooring replacement in the clinic, chapel, and conference room and
concrete repairs at the front entrance to the hospital - $5,000.00
Wichita County Municipal Golf Course for
bathroom partitions, garage doors, and signage/landscaping - $2,875.00
Recipients of Wichita County Community Foundation
Scholarships are:
Judy Biel Memorial Scholarship - Cody Geyer;
John and Mary Herndon Scholarship - Carrie Leatherman,
Taryn Lobmeyer, Alex Rodriquez, Remington Smith, Stormy White, and
John Zamora; Wichita County Community Foundation Upper
Classman and Graduate Scholarship - Amanda Marcotte.
Family Dynamics' Golf Team Wins 2007 Annual Benefit Tournament
Golfing partners, Brent Porter and Russell Lewis,
sponsored by Family Dynamics, shot a 5 under-par 67 to win the Fifth
Annual Wichita County Community Foundation Benefit Golf Tournament on
Saturday, June 2, 2007. Thirty-six golfers competed in the 18 hole,
2-man scramble held at the Wichita County Municipal Golf Course.
Co-sponsors for the event were Cargill Cattle Feeders,
Edward Jones/Bryan Love, ESE Alcohol, Leoti Greentech,
Security State Bank and Wichita County Pharmacy.
Results of the tournament were:
Championship Flight: 1st - Brent Porter and Russell
Lewis (Family Dynamics), 2nd - Jim Gittlein
and Craig Sandlin (Great Plains Family Dentistry)
1st Flight: 1st - Jerry Gillen and Roger Bellows (Edward
Jones/Bryan Love), 2nd - Vaughn Elder and Jim Green (Security
State Bank)
2nd Flight: 1st - Bill Wilson and Bud Wilson,
2nd - Brock Baber and Scot Robertson (Security
State Bank)
